(Sort of) Aquatic Brunch, Sunday 20 July 2008

I had thought of doing another BBQ elsewhere in Berlin but the weather looks so unpredictable in Berlin that I thought I won't risk getting you people soaked or something. So, as the best part of summer is still the sunshine (when the sun does shine), I thought we will do a summer brunch event instead late on Sunday morning. Our last brunch was really fun and I am hoping for a repeat.

The restaurant is called Freischwimmer and it is located in Vor Dem Schlesischen Tor 2A., in Treptow.  (Who says I don't do East German places, huh?) Please note that this is not your usual run-of-the-mill place and I had not known they even did brunch but it seems that they do, so I thought we should check their brunch menu out. As far as I know, the dinner menu there is pretty acceptable a couple of years ago so I have high hopes for their brunches. It is not at all expensive as the unlimited buffet is a fixed price of less than 10 Eur plus your coffees and drinks, etc. And it has indoor seating if the weather turns bad so the weather should not affect us. The date planned for the brunch is Sunday 20 July 2008 at 11:00, and please note that you have until 16 July to send in your booking. As it is such short notice, I did not book too many places so if you do want to come, please let me know asap at my usual email address.

How it went on the day...

Well, we had a lot of weather as well as a lot of food, and we had to play musical chairs first before we settled on a couple of nice tables right at the edge of the canal. Food was about as good as one can expect for the price, but it was a lot better than what some people had feared, so I think a few people would have marked this place down in their address books. The weather ranged from a grilling sun to a heavy summer shower, so at least from that point of view, there was never a dull moment. Overall, it was a chatty friendly bunch and everyone had a good time!
