Dining in style at Bond, James Bond, Saturday 31 July 2010

You know, we've been to whole bunch of restaurants now in Berlin. We've been to places where we squat on the floor, we've eaten with our hands, amateur Venezuelan mothers have cooked for us, eaten in the middle of a slide show in an art gallery, dined totally in the dark, wandered to the depths of Brandenburg, etc, etc. It's been a long journey with the club. So let's go back to simple, classy dining this month.

Bond claims to be one of Berlin's coolest restaurant and I see no reason to disagree. But in the name of thoroughness, we will go and find out this month. Anyway, we have a rather special deal. There is a special 50 Euro menu which consists of "Lachs-Tatar, Shisokresse,Papadam /-mit Szechuan-Pfeffer und Tandoori gebratenes Rinderfilet, Portweinschalotten, Süßkartoffelcreme/-hausgemachtes Champagnersorbet/- Bonds-Brownie mit TahitiVanilleSchaum." However, if you pay via uberweisung to us by Thursday, 29 July, you can have this menu for only 25 Euro, therefore giving you a whopping 50% discount. This offer is limited to only a select dozen places, I am afraid, so if you do want to have the offer, please let me know asap and I will enter your name into our electronic hat for selection. You be notified by Tuesday, 27 July if you have made it. Alternatively, you can choose to pay the full 50 Euro for the dinner - do let me know when you send in your email (but I guess there won't be many takers for this)! :o)

If you want to see their website, be prepared for some film music and go to http://www.bond-berlin.de/

The address is Knesebeckstr. 16, close to Savignyplatz S-Bahn, Zoo and Ernst-Reuter-Platz U-Bahn so transport is not a problem. It has been reviewed and recommeneded in newspapers like Die Welt, which is only mildly worrying, but judge for yourself: http://www.worlds-luxury-guide.com/Food-Beverage/Restaurants/Bond-Berlin-Berlin

Anyway, please note the date is Saturday, 31 July 2010, and we have even made arrangements to eat al fresco outside on their terrace if the weather is good. Oh, and if you did send in your money but didn't turn up, then that is going to too bad as I can't do refunds for this dinner.

See you soon!

Chris

How it went on the night...

Well, as it turned out, I was not able to make it so here is the commentary from one of the diners:

The restaurant Bond is dedicated to James Bond 007. Picture of the agent and other Bond accessories are showed in this retrofutoristic restaurant.

As for the Bond girls there were many of them one this evening enjoying this four course special dinner with some Bond guys. Starting with a lachs tatar, followed by champagne sorbet, having its peak with a nice tandori cooked beef filet and finishing off with a wonderful tasting Bonds brownie with Tahiti foam making this dinner for 25 Euro a very good deal. The service was good, the food worthwhile eating. They should work more on their wines. They are quiet pricey, some of them sold out (even though it is a small list) and they served them either to warm or too cold - but what you expect from Bond? We should have maybe gone for the Martinis.
